Message from the President January.2020

Happy New Year. I am delighted to celebrate the first New Year in the Reiwa period with you.

In the previous year, 2019, a year of Tsuchi-no-toi in the Chinese ganzhi sexagenary cycle, it was forecast that the global economy would hit a peak and head toward contraction. The global economic slowdown gathered momentum, mainly due to trade disputes and geopolitical risks. This had a significant impact on the Japanese economy, sending it into a major standstill or slump.
The future economic outlook remains uncertain and unpredictable.

As it has been shown by current high-tech buzzwords such as AI, IoT, Cloud and Connected, digitalization based on ever-advancing technologies continue to speed up. Businesses in the world have been engaged in activities that help achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to build a sustainable, diverse and inclusive global society through a range of technological innovations, such as Mobility as a Service (MaaS), which will make changes to people’s movements, Connected, Autonomous, Shared and Electric (CASE) technologies, which will change the concept of automobiles, smart medicine and the realization of a smart society.

Primarily for the manufacturers we serve, we are endeavoring to step up selection and concentration, including alliances, to increase the additional value of all our products and services in pursuit of differentiation and greater competitiveness. We are also pressing ahead with open innovation with the use of outside technological strengths and personnel resources.

In the new year 2020, our three-year-long Group Mid-Term Management Plan, Next Stage 1, will come to an end. We will be embarking on a new Group Mid-Term Management Plan to develop into a corporate group that will achieve continued growth.

We are aware and proud that we stand as an “Engineering Firm at The Core”, dedicated to technological innovation in contributing to the construction of a fulfilling society. We will focus our energy on our engineering capabilities to create new value and seek to boost additional value with the aspiration of revealing an exciting future.
