Message from the President September.2022
Creating opportunities that allow engineers to display their strengths
We chiefly serve manufacturers that are boldly tackling environmental and other sustainability issues in an effort to build the society of the future. In this process, technological innovation is gathering momentum and design and development processes are increasingly diversifying.
To provide our services, we will step up our customer-oriented operations and offer a broad array of technical services. We will thus actively seek high value-added business opportunities. For engineers, we will create opportunities and placements that help them with their personal development with the use of their engineering capabilities. We will thereby aim to offer satisfaction to both customers and engineers.
Back in 2013, Japan's Cabinet Office announced the Japan Rehabilitation Strategy with the subtitle JAPAN is BACK. It had a number of action plans, one of which was a plan to rehabilitate Japanese industry. It suggested a policy shift, such as the smooth transfer of labor without unemployment from mature industry sectors to growth areas, and the establishment of models of regular employment for certain types of business. Accordingly, work style reform moved into high gear. I am convinced that our engineers' work style can be a model of the work style promoted by the government. On the basis of engineering, they can work for their lifetime as professionals in different growing industries.
At the moment, the effective job offer ratio is above 1, according to the Employment Security Bureau of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. Engineers are in chronically short supply. Conducted by the Statistics Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, the 2021 Labor Force Survey reveals that there were 1.01 million professional and technical workers in the manufacturing sector, 1.64 million in the information and communications sector. In total, there were 2.65 million in Japan. According to the same survey conducted five years ago, Japan had 2.16 million such workers. This represented an increase of 0.5 million over the five-year period. Even so, the number is still not enough to meet demand. In a society that demands innovation, engineers are vital since they solve the technical questions involved in the process of creating something. It is essential to employ and develop more engineers in the future.
We are a company that creates opportunities that allow engineers to display their strengths. We will continue to make every effort to create more jobs for those seeking the Career Style of Engineer and to acquire, and provide engineers with, opportunities and placements for success in growth areas. In addition to engineer satisfaction, we will seek to increase customer satisfaction in the manufacturing industry, striving to create a future society. We will continue to advance our services to build a sustainable society.
