Message from the President July.2024

In recent years, the word “sustainable” has become the term of choice when discussing the concept of developing economic activities in a sustainable manner in consideration of social and environmental aspects of these activities. To maintain the beautiful and rich earth and coexist in harmony we must actively focus on economic improvement. For this reason, every person and every company must take on challenges by changing and enabling the status quo to evolve.

The July 2024 edition of the internal newsletter includes the “Detect trends in the market, technology and orders, think and act” feature. It explains the rapidly changing trends in the market, technology and orders with an eye toward the realization of a sustainable society. Four engineers who have different professional backgrounds talked about their sense of crises regarding these changes and their targets for the future. In addition, certain activities at four business sites are introduced as examples of thinking and acting to become professionals that are universally accepted in the changing world.

What drew my attention in the feature article was the words in the engineers’ answers to the question, “What does it mean to be a professional that is universally accepted?” They said that it means a professional who is not satisfied with the status quo and who can boldly and actively take on new challenges. I think that this means a person who are able to think and act based on assessment whether their cumulative years of experience as an engineer will enable them to continue to be universally accepted, not if they are accepted now. The evolution of technology has accelerated and it is unlikely that our current jobs will remain unchanged. If one is satisfied with the status quo because one does not feel there are changes in their current job, that person may suddenly find they no longer universally accepted one day. Even if we quickly move to remedy the situation, it may be too late. To become a professional that is accepted in a changing world, it is very important to start thinking and acting to increase our awareness and learn from the information we obtain from our peers outside the workplace or from domestic and international news.

Our company will celebrate its 50th anniversary on July 17, 2024. Many of our predecessors have thrived professionally in a changing world and they have contributed to our customers and society. There have also been many crises. Having overcome them, we are now celebrating our 50th anniversary truly because of everyone’s hard work. On July 20, all of the employees will gather together for our 50th anniversary event. We hope to mobilize the power of 8,000 employees and make this event an opportunity that opens the way to our future. I am looking forward to seeing you all there.
