Message from the President October.2024
The power to stay active in a dramatically changing world
Modern society is changing rapidly. We have benefited from the progress in technology, with digitalization and automation based on AI and robotics having become an entrenched part of industry and everyday life, and there have been great changes in our ways of working and lifestyles. Furthermore, people's values are changing, for example, diversity is being promoted, methods of communication are changing and consumer behaviors are shifting from owning products to using services. Meanwhile, extreme weather events and natural disasters are becoming more frequent due to environmental changes caused by global warming, and immense damage has been incurred around the world. There is a strong need for every enterprise and individual to proactively transform to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.
Against this backdrop, the internal newsletter to be published in October 2024 includes a feature entitled, “The power to stay active in a dramatically changing world.” We have received messages from four of our client companies which are contributing to the realization of a sustainable society regarding the content of their measures to respond to change and the things that they expect from engineers in the future. In addition, two engineers introduced their own challenges against changes and ways of thinking behind them.
What struck me strongly reading these articles was that the essential cores of their ways of thinking were almost universal, even though the four clients' businesses and industries are different and so are the challenges that each of them face. Specifically, they hope to contribute to the realization of a sustainable society by quickly providing new value to users through the concerted efforts of their own employees and external engineers. To achieve their hopes, they expect engineers to combine technologies beyond the barriers between disciplines, increase their curiosity and inquisitiveness, learn and take on challenges.
I ask that our employees read the internal newsletter to get a feel for and learn about the clients’ valuable messages to incorporate them into their thoughts and actions. Our clients are working very hard to generate new value by maximally leveraging the strengths they have cultivated over many years to handle the dramatically changing world. By firmly understanding their expectations of us, we must continue to evolve to acquire and exercise the ability to live up to their expectations.
Let us ensure that we achieve the MEITEC 2 Core Transformation (M2CX) target in the current 2023-2025 mid-term management plan and commit ourselves to solving social issues together with our clients.
