At the beginning of this year, did you set any specific goals that you aspired to achieve by the end of the year? Did you succeed in reaching these goals? Continuing to work every day to achieve a goal for the year is not easy. You set several milestones on a long road, and you control your motivation as you reach each milestone in order to reach the final goal. When finally achieving the goal, you enjoy a moment of joy and seek a new goal. Always setting a goal and reaching it while putting pressure on yourself is a very important process for continuing to be a professional.

The internal newsletter that will be out in January 2025 has a special feature that is titled: Being Professional: To Play an Active Roles in a Changing World. We asked two clients attempting bold things beyond conventional thinking to speak about the background behind and details of their activities addressing social challenges and what they expected from the engineers working together with them. In three talks with employees, they each described what the professionalism they aimed for was like. I hope that you will make good use of this information when setting your goals for 2025.

I felt that the clients featured in this special feature showed they were working to establish a prosperous future society through their businesses. Their approaches toward their goals differed, but their goals are ambitious. That is why engineers are privileged to be able to take part in the initiatives and to serve them in meeting their goals. The words they said that were particularly impressive were that they needed engineers capable of working hard without giving up after a failure. It is said that success is created from numerous failures. It is significant that they can work steadily with an inquisitive mind and enjoy the hard work as they dream. For this purpose, they need to be sturdy mentally and physically.

It is tough to continue to be a professional, producing strong results in a fast-changing world. That is why you need to stay up to date with the market, technology and order trends to be able to play an active role in fields that have growth potential. There is still one month left in the year. Set a target for the month to achieve the things that you should do without fail by the end of this year, make a plan, and manage it yourself.
